About the Artist.
Paula Metz DiSciullo
What started as a rekindling of a lifelong relationship with art and nature, soon led to a career. As a busy mother of four, I listened to my inner desires to give time to painting and allow myself to be "in flow" in the studio. My Equine Series was born, then Pet Portraits, followed by abstract works, a Sea Life Series and a Charleston series. My art stems from an openness to the beauty around me through travel, nature and beloved animals.
I begin with an original photo for inspiration and reference. I then add layer upon layer of color to create texture and vibrancy. I paint with loose bold brush strokes. My intuitive color choices allow the energy and character of my subjects shine through. I showcase the tension between order and natures' imperfection resulting in a beautiful contrast. When creating abstract paintings, I use intuition and emotion, expressed through unexpected color and loose brush strokes.
