About the Artist.

My work explores how the human spirit is restored by travel, nature and animals.  Rooted in a background in psychology and deeply shaped by my faith, I am drawn to the ways beauty can restore perspective.  In doing so, hope is cultivated and we are invited into a deeper awareness of ourselves and the world around us.

Travel is a great source of inspiration in my work.  Stepping into unfamiliar landscapes or a bustling city has the remarkable ability to interrupt routine and awaken fresh ways of seeing.  Early in my career working in the world of luxury brands in New York City, I learned about thoughtful design and the transformative power of color.  The composition and colors of flowers can transform a room. An energetic abstract painting has the ability to elevate a space.  My wanderlust reflects a mindset that there is always more beauty and possibility than my daily concerns often allow me to see.  My travel photos are less about documenting a location and more about capturing its emotional resonance that I translate into paintings.

 

Nature has long been one of humanity's greatest source of healing.  Throughout my life, nature walks helped me to work through difficult moments.  Growing up, my mother filled our home with plants and flowers.  We always had a dog.  She allowed me to collect bugs, toads, turtles and gerbils.  My best friend owned a horse and introduced me to these majestic animals.  The beauty of nature or the gentle companionship of an animal has the unique ability to ground us while simultaneously lifting our gaze beyond ourselves.  Experiencing this  reminds us that we belong to something greater. My faith has deepened this understanding, leading me to experience the "awe" effect of nature.  I see nature as a reflection of restoration and hope.

 

Animals--particularly dogs and horses--appear frequently in my work because I have been a dog owner for most of my life and a horseback rider since childhood.  I have experienced, like many of us, their extraordinary capacity to offer comfort and unconditional companionship.  My understanding of human behavior has only strengthened my appreciation for the profound bond we have with animals.  In quiet ways they participate in healing, resilience and emotional renewal.

Working primarily in acrylic, I create expressive paintings that blend vibrant color with moments of recognizable form and abstraction.  Whether painting wildlife, florals, companion animals or places remembered, I seek to evoke not only what is seen but what is deeply experienced.  Color becomes a language of emotion and memory, inviting viewers to pause and reconnect with a sense of wonder.  ​My art is meant to elevate spaces while stirring our spirit beyond our daily concerns.  It restores our perspective, nourishes our soul and gently calls us toward hope.
